At the Park in the Rain

Teddy, crying hard after a particularly startling trip down a slick metal slide into a giant wet puddle (at the Mountain City park full of old-school “dangerous” play equipment):

Mimsy: “Teddy, are you hurt, or are you sad that you got wet?”

Teddy, wailing dramatically: “I’m sad that I got hurt!”

Then, a moment later, “May I have a popsicle to make me feel better?”

T: “No, we got it with Nanny turtling!”

E: “Turtling? What’s turtling?”

Mimsy: “‘Tootling’! He means ‘tootling’ with Nanny!”
